Welcome! My name is Ashley and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of general studies; and Converse University with a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy. During graduate school; I worked at a non-profit therapy clinic; as well as provided telehealth for inmates at the County jail. My post-graduate work was in a private practice where I received additional training in play therapy; sand tray; and expressive arts; and am trained in EMDR. I love working with teens; men; and women in individual and couple counseling sessions.

In over 14.5 years of experience; I have come to understand that we must treat individuals as a whole -- true well being is found in addressing issues in emotional; environmental; financial; intellectual; occupational; physical; social; and spiritual wellness. I work diligently to integrate physical; emotional; and spiritual approaches. I strive to help individuals address cognitive distortions and irrational thought patterns while finding new self-acceptance and self-affirmation. Life is best lived when we love ourselves; and are able to have a positive outlook on the future. I am excited to connect with you!

I work with individuals in uncovering and building upon their innate strengths and helping them to live more fulfilled and authentic lives. I have experience working with clients dealing with significant stress; life transitions; and/or trauma and guiding them to a place where they feel more emotionally regulated; allowing them to tap into their natural capacity to cope with life events and find meaning. I have a passion for working with clients navigating internal dissonance; including sexual; spiritual; & other identity issues.

I believe that an authentic relationship is essential in order to help someone to grow and recover from a mental health or substance abuse disorder. I also believe in the power of the individual and the innate knowledge within us all; and aim to help my clients access this within themselves. I’ve worked in the addiction and mental health fields since 2017 using experiential therapy techniques to employ theories of somatic experiencing; Gestalt therapy; psychodynamic psychotherapy; existential psychotherapy; DBT; CBT; and Mindfulness in my practice.

What should I expect during my first therapy session with a therapist through Talkspace?
In your first Talkspace therapy session, you should expect to discuss your therapy goals, background, and any current mental health concerns you're having.
